- LEAKAGE ISSUES: Leaking can also be caused by a bad connection or propane tank. To check the tank, inspect the inside of the gasket for cracks or misshaping (oval shape). You can also do a soapy water test, where you apply soapy water to the valve where the regulator connects and open the valve – bubbles will form where there is a leak.
